What providers can and cannot do

Set realistic expectations about practical environmental services and the roles that remain with other people or professionals.

A provider’s cleaning scope should not be mistaken for a clinical, emergency, statutory, or legal role.

What a provider may do

A specialist provider may offer practical environmental or property services such as cleaning, clearance, sanitation, odour work, decontamination, or recovery planning where that capability is genuinely within its scope.

The provider should explain what it can undertake, what it needs to assess, and what is not included.

Roles that are not implied

  • Therapist or doctor
  • Social worker or safeguarding authority
  • Emergency service, police, or fire service
  • Statutory decision-maker
  • Legal adviser

Separate qualifications must be evidenced separately

A provider may hold genuine qualifications or offer other services, but the Directory must not infer those roles from cleaning membership, a broad service label, or publication in this Directory.
